Jeff is an Israeli peace activist and strong critic of Israel's policies towards the Palestinians. 'Israel is carrying out a massacre in Gaza', says Prof. Halper. It 'controls Gaza under a violent siege which violates fundamental human rights and international law.' He will discuss the situation in both Gaza and the West Bank. Prof. Halper is the co-ordinator of the Israeli Committee against House Demolitions (ICAHD). He works extensively for peace and justice and in 2006, was nominated for the Nobel peace prize. Jeff was part of the Free Gaza flotilla that recently 'broke the siege' by taking supplies to Gaza. He was granted honourary Palestinian citizenship. Prof. Halper's most recent book is An Israeli in Palestine.

Northern District Commander Maj.-Gen. Shimon Koren vows to restore peace to northern city, says police will make sure agitators are dealt with to full extent of the law

Sharon Roffe-Ofir

The dominant elements behind the riots in Akko seem to be Jewish instigators, Northern District Police Commander, Major-General Shimon Koren, told Ynet on Sunday.

"We have no intention of letting up. We know who's behind the incitement and the arson. It's a very small group of people and they will be dealt with to the full extent of the law," he added.
