Jeff is an Israeli peace activist and strong critic of Israel's policies towards the Palestinians. 'Israel is carrying out a massacre in Gaza', says Prof. Halper. It 'controls Gaza under a violent siege which violates fundamental human rights and international law.' He will discuss the situation in both Gaza and the West Bank. Prof. Halper is the co-ordinator of the Israeli Committee against House Demolitions (ICAHD). He works extensively for peace and justice and in 2006, was nominated for the Nobel peace prize. Jeff was part of the Free Gaza flotilla that recently 'broke the siege' by taking supplies to Gaza. He was granted honourary Palestinian citizenship. Prof. Halper's most recent book is An Israeli in Palestine.

Interview by Éric Hazan
[New Left Review 32, March-April 2005]

“The Ramallah doctor and activist, general secretary of the Al Mubadara coalition, on struggles against the Israeli Occupation, from the popular movement of the first Intifada to the tactical errors of the second, via the disaster of Oslo. As Abu Mazen is levered into place, what alternatives can combat both IDF stranglehold and the flyblown Palestinian Authority?”
